Committees & Affinity Groups

Each member school will select representatives to serve on committees in accordance with the needs and capacity of their staff. Committee representatives will be responsible for communicating committee activities to their school communities and for maintaining active cooperative relationships within the committee. Schools may find it helpful to select more than one representative to serve on each committee to share responsibility and to ensure continuity in case of staff transitions and absences.

TEACHERS SERVICE COMMITTEE (TSC)

  • Members of this committee will be chosen by their respective Heads to represent their school on this committee.
  • The primary responsibility of this committee will be to prepare and produce a biennial teachers conference in the fall of odd-numbered years.
  • The Teachers Service Committee (TSC) is responsible for promoting conferences, in-service workshops, seminars and other professional development activities for teachers and administrators; providing coordination, cooperation, and support for the efforts of member schools; and developing ways of recognizing the professional service of teachers and administrators.
  • In accordance with the stated  ISACS PSC goals, the AIMS representative should be the ISACS PSC representative.  The committee should be comprised of individuals representing various academic disciplines, school levels and professional roles.  
  • Meetings: Typically once per month throughout the school year with occasional conference planning meetings in the evening.

DIVERSITY COMMITTEE
Chair:
Andy Zimmer (Emerson School) 

  • Members of this committee will be chosen by their respective Heads to represent their school on this committee.
  • The primary responsibility of this committee will be to prepare and produce a Teachers of Color Job Fair and support other opportunities to foster diversity within their schools.
  • The Diversity Committee is responsible for fostering the development of projects and programs that advance the strategic goals of the organization to increase standards of excellence through diversity, multiculturalism and inclusion.
  • Meetings: Typically three times per year.

ADMISSIONS & MARKETING COMMITTEE

Jennifer Bullock (Detroit Country Day School)
Co-Chair:
Julie Bawulski (Dearborn Heights Montessori Center)

  • Members of this affinity group will consist of Admissions Directors and/or Marketing personnel as determined by their respective Heads to represent their school on this committee.
  • The primary responsibility of this committee will be to report trends, share expertise, and create group marketing opportunities. The  Admissions/Marketing Committee is to focus on the development of programs to advance the admissions and marketing objectives of member institutions and to foster an informed and collaborative community overall.   
  • Meetings: Typically four times per year.

SENIOR LEADERS & DIVISION DIRECTORS AFFINITY GROUP
Chair: Tim Beardon (Detroit Country Day School)

  • Creating opportunities for people with similar roles to connect is a key strength of the organization. Through these interactions, wisdom and experience can be shared, as well as concerns and struggles.
