Description |
The basis of preschool and elementary education at Daycroft is a unique blend of the traditional Montessori philosophy and educational practices supported by current research and experience.
At Daycroft the teachers primary objective is to carefully observe children to determine their individual needs and skills, and to prepare the environment and lessons which facilitate their learning. The "prepared environment" enables children to develop independently and to progress at their own pace. The Montessori approach focuses on teaching for understanding and uses sensorial experiences, self correcting and sequenced concrete materials, and practical life application of knowledge which leads to abstract thought and problem solving. Programs at the young preschool level start a spiral of education, which builds in ever increasing strength through the elementary years. |
